Tribute & Message From The Family

WINCHESTER - Isabel A. Hart, 91, formerly of Winchester and Woburn MA, passed away on December 24, 2018 at Greystone Farm in Salem, NH with her daughter by her side.

Isabel was born in Brockton, on December 8, 1927, the youngest child of the late Lyman L. and Margaret (Haydock) Andrews.

Isabel had a big smile, sparkly blue eyes and an ability to focus on the good things in life. She didn't want anyone to be sad at her passing saying "I've had a great life" and she really had. She graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston Ma in 1947. She worked for five years in a Boston Law firm before moving to Washington DC in 1952 to join the CIA. During her time with the CIA she was stationed at the US embassy in Stockholm ostensibly as a State Department employee. She left the CIA in 1957 and was working at Arthur D Little and living in Harvard Square when she met her husband, Stanley. They married in May 1962.

After Stanley died at 50 in 1978, Isabel, also 50, returned to the business world. She spent many years at the Bank of Boston, moved to the International Business Center of New England and finally retired at age 72 from her part time job at the Winchester Chamber of Commerce.

Isabel and her husband made annual trips to exotic islands with great beaches and tropical drinks. This was Stanley's idea of a wonderful vacation and Isabel loved floating in the ocean. As a widow, Isabel travelled widely to places such as Italy, Germany, France, Turkey, Finland, Japan, Russia and the Czech Republic.

Isabel enjoyed volunteering in her community, bowling, playing bridge, and playing the piano. She was a long time member and life deacon at the First Congregational Church in Winchester. She kept active by walking with friends every Saturday at Horn Pond in Woburn and exercising at the Y where she was still walking on the treadmill and doing a spinning class in her 80s. She was very interested in current events and kept informed by reading the Boston Globe and listening to NPR.

Isabel's surviving family members include her loving children, Carolyn E. Hart and her husband Mike Johnson of Haverhill and Russell A. Hart of Branford, CT; sister in-law Colleen Andrews of Clarksville, TN; beloved grandchildren, Alec Hart, Nathan Hart Johnson, Camille Hart, and Ian Hart. She was blessed with bonus grandchildren, Benjamin Johnson and his wife Lindsay and their son Logan of North Andover; Rebecca Johnson and her wife Hollie Stephenson of Baltimore, MD and Samuel Johnson and his wife Erin Thurlow of Cambridge. Isabel also had many loving nieces and nephews and enjoyed them and their families very much. She leaves her many friends from Winchester and Woburn with whom she had many good times and adventures over the years.
Isabel was predeceased by her husband, Stanley E. Hart and her siblings Carolyn Andrews, Lyman Andrews and his wife Beatrice and Mark Andrews. She was also predeceased by Stanley's sisters, Mildred Hart and Helen Hart.

Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 12, in the Universalist Unitarian Church of Haverhill, 16 Ashland Street, Haverhill at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the UU Church of Haverhill or the First Congregational Church of Winchester, MA. Arrangements by Driscoll Funeral Home, Haverhill. I am so sad to hear of Isabel's passing. We were friends for a number of years through a special group. For a number of years in a row she made a few of us lunch by the pool so we couild stay connected. I have walked arounf Horn Pond with her and she was at our wedding in 2002. I am sorry to say we lost touch the last few years. I will remember her as a dear sweet fun friend with a great sense of humor.

Carolyn and family, we are very sad to know of the passing of your best friend, your mom, Isabel. While did not know her well as many, we heard so much about her love for you and the family through you sharing many loving stories of times together. May all those loving memories serve to carry each of you touched by this passing during this time of mourning and celebrating what her life has given to so many. Much love to all of you, Tom Ellis & Patrick Bowe.
