He was born in Haverhill on October 22, 1939, the youngest of seven children. He was raised by his parents Rene and Mary (Butler) Thibault alongside the extended Butler family in the Acre neighborhood, where he formed treasured lifelong friendships.

He attended Saint James Parochial School and Haverhill High School where he was a star baseball and basketball athlete. In 1954, his Pony League All Star team played in the Eastern US Championships in NY. He was the batting champion in 1953 and 1954. He played in New England and Canada on the Semi Pro Northeast baseball team. During his later years he was able to attend Red Sox fantasy camp in Florida where he met his baseball hero Ted Williams. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.

He graduated from Merrimack College, and would later earn his MBA.

In 1962, he entered the new field of computer science at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where he spent the remainder of his career. He retired as the Director of Data Security.

In 1966, he began a part time income tax preparation business that became his full time profession after retirement. He opened his tax office on Primrose Street in Haverhill in 2005, where he enjoyed working until age 74. He formed lasting relationships with his tax customers and helped many in need.

He was highly regarded for his noble spirit, strength, courage, patience, kindness, dedication to his family, loyal friendship, and generosity. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

My sincere condolences to the whole family. A great man who will be missed by many. My dad passed away 5 years ago but he always came over to visit with him to watch the Red Sox and sneak a few bowls of Carter's ice cream. Faithful to the end. Gave me his designer suits and leather wing tip shoes when he retired so I "wouldn't look like a bum at work". Such a good man. An inspiration to many. A man to look up to.

Uncle Bob will be sorely missed by all of his extended nieces and nephews. No one could ask for a funnier, more thoughtful and loving person to be their uncle. I have many happy memories of his company and I still smile when I remember all of his jokes. My love is with you all.

Love you Uncle Bob! Thank you for taking care of me and my sisters when we needed you! For the ski trips and the igloos, and tolerating us making fake cigarettes made of straws and tape, and for making awesome cinnamon rolls and way too buttered English muffins, yum! And thank you for not getting mad at me when I was 12 and made fun of how you walked,. and instead you said to me,.. "If the bum don't wiggle, got a problem with the bum!" I love so many memories from my childhood and during a very sad time you still helped me to make some wonderful ones. Please say hi to my mom and give her a big hug from all of us! Janine
