Tribute & Message From The Family

HAVERHILL – Donald (Donnie) A. Selvaggio, 83, lifelong resident of Haverhill passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.

He was born in Haverhill on March 8, 1936 loving son of Anthony and Mary (DeSando) Selvaggio. Donnie graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1953 and then earned an Associate's Degree from Northern Essex Community College. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served from 1956 stationed at Ft. Devens and Stuttgart, Germany until being honorably discharged in 1958.

Donnie worked the majority of his career as a salesman for A.H. Notini and Sons, Inc., a family owned wholesale distributor until his retirement. He also worked part-time at Stop and Shop in Amesbury after retirement until his illness. His interests included playing cards and watching the Red Sox and Patriots games. He also loved going out to eat with family and friends. Donnie was a loving and caring man that will be truly missed.

He is survived by his loving family members that include his twin brother Ronald Selvaggio and wife Carma; several nieces and nephews, Christopher Selvaggio and wife Stephanie, Marialena Selvaggio and husband Richard Coffin, Francis Selvaggio and wife Nicole and Laurie Freitas and husband Paul; other family members include Carol Selvaggio and her children Alicia Borgonzi and husband Gino, Amy Selvaggio and Michael Selvaggio. Donnie was the brother of the late Vito and Richard Marco Selvaggio.

The Selvaggio family would like to recognize and extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Wingate at Haverhill, especially the nurses in A-Wing for the loving care and attention they gave Donald over the last 5 months.

Visitation will be Monday, November 25, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Services will follow beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment with U.S. Army Honors in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Donnie's memory to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Haverhill, 55 Emerson Street, Haverhill, MA 01830. For guestbook, please visit

Don was a great friend and exercise partner for many years. His humor and laughter was inspiring and uplighting. He was the only person that left a treadmill running to get a drink or talk to all his special friends.
