BOXFORD – Charles Francis Boulanger, 85, of Boxford, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Kaplan House in Danvers, with his wife by his side.

Charles was born in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Francis M. and Helen S. (Johanson) Boulanger. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and later enrolled in the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK, where his love of aviation began. Charles joined Trans World Airlines in 1957 where he spent 35 years as the flight engineer controlling systems on Constellations, Boeing 707's, Boeing 747's and Lockheed 1011's.

Following retirement, he and his wife Patricia traveled often. When at home in Boxford, he loved caring for his yard and house, building furniture, and visiting with his friends at Jack's.

His surviving family members included his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia M. (Hayes) Boulanger of Boxford; sister in-law Bernice Hayes of Vernon, CT; brother in-law and sister in-law John M. Hayes and wife Gail Hayes of Chesapeake, VA; brother in-law Thomas C. Lynch of Shirley, MA; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his sister Frances M. (Boulanger) Stroble and her husband James Stroble of Bensalem, PA.

Visiting hours will be Friday, April 6, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Bradford from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be Saturday in the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment with U.S. Army Honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
