Obituary

Eugene (Gene) C. Lemire, 92, died on August 31, 2019 in Prescott House, North Andover, Massachusetts, after a long illness.

He was a Navy veteran having served in World War II. Gene spent his career as a 45 year wood patternmaker at the former Crane Company in Indian Orchard, MA. He was also a Minister of Eucharist for 27 years and retired at age 85. His activities included being Cub Scout Webelo leader of Pack 4 in Indian Orchard and Secretary / Treasurer of the Springfield Chapter of the Pattern Makers League of North America.

He and his wife lived in Indian Orchard for 65 years in the house he built and moving to North Andover in 2015. Gene enjoyed working on projects with his son and many years of traveling and time spent with family and maintaining his home and puttering around the house with his various interests. He was a former communicant of St. Michael Parish in North Andover and
treasured his faith and his family.

Gene leaves his beloved and devoted wife of 69 years, Phyllis, of North Andover; cherished and devoted son and daughter in-law, Mark and Leslie Lemire of North Andover; he was blessed with grandchildren, Andrea Lemire Putnam and her husband, Keith and Nicholas Lemire and his wife Jeimy; great-grandchildren, Harlow Putnam and Mateo Lemire; sister, Rachel Day and brother in-law, Alan Chalk; and many loving nieces and nephews; predeceased by his brother, Wilfred.

Heartfelt thanks to all those in the Memory Care unit at Prescott House for their compassion, goodness and patience and for all those who always had a smile and kind word for the both of us.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 7, in St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, No. Andover at 10:00 AM. Internment with U.S Navy Honors will take place at a later date at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA. Contributions in Gene's memory may be made to the Resident Activity Fund c/o Prescott House, 140 Prescott Street, No. Andover, MA 01845.
